Register Now for Flexible MTSU Courses for Six Sigma-Lean Certification
MTSU’s Jones College of Business is offering an upcoming certification on project management that allows participants the flexibility of on-site and online course work while providing a marketable credential to enhance their careers.
The Green Belt Certification course offers Six Sigma and Lean training in flexible formats combining on-ground classes spread out to reduce the impact on work and to offer opportunities to apply learning, online work, and off line project work. Courses will include manufacturing, service, government, and nonprofit examples.
The course includes 16 hours of on-site instruction, 20 online flexible hours and an approved project to obtain a Green Belt Certification.
The on-site course work will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, and Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Jones Executive Education Center inside the Miller Education Center, 503 E. Bell St.
Registration deadline is nearing. For course costs and other details, go to http://www.mtsu.edu/business/execed.php.
Facilitators Cliff Welborn, associate professor of management, and Kimball Bullington, professor of management, are Lean Six Sigma master black belts and have successfully taught white, yellow, green, and black belts.
“The combination of Lean and Six Sigma is a powerful, practical process improvement tool kit and plan for excellence that will help your organization, teams and individual performers find waste, identify priorities, and drive improvement,” the instructors said.
The instructors add that the hands-on exercises combined with tools and strategies ready for implementation “make this a very practical way to learn the most popular improvement methodology of the last 30 years” from experienced teachers.
The course is designed to prepare team members, with little or no Lean Six Sigma background, to contribute to continuous improvement projects. The hybrid format includes online tutorials combined with face-to-face interaction with experienced consultants and peers.
