Rutherford County Offices to Re-open to General Public Friday, May 22

Mayor Bill Ketron announced late last week to employees that Rutherford County Offices will re-open to the general public beginning Friday, May 22.

Ketron informed employees that social distancing protocols are to remain in place until further notice.

Special counter guards have been installed in high traffic offices including but not limited to Planning/Engineering, County Trustee, and Election Office and sanitization guidelines for workspace cleanliness will be followed.

Employees are urged to check their temperatures daily before reporting to work, staying home if it registers 100.4 or more.

Mayor Ketron encourages the continuation of conducting as much business as possible electronically and only scheduling in-person meetings when there is no other alternative. Standing and special meetings will continue to be conducted virtually until further notice.

“As we work toward our new normal, please understand these practices are subject to change,” Ketron told employees. “We are attempting to make informed decisions for everyone’s health and safety as we continue to deal with COVID-19.”

Any special variations to schedules will be listed at rutherfordcountytn.gov/covid19 and on the respective department’s official county website.

It should be noted that Rutherford County Offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

“We would like to thank the public for being patient with us through all of these changes,” said Ketron. “We know these processes for conducting business have been very different than what any of us are used to, and we, like you, are ready to see you face-to-face, while continuing to practice social distancing for your safety and the safety of our employees.”
