Saint Thomas Rutherford names Julie Hudgens as Pharmacy Director
Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital has announced Julie Hudgens as its new Director of Pharmacy, made effective April 7.
Since joining the hospital in 2010, Hudgens has served in various positions, including: Clinical Pharmacist, PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident Coordinator, Pharmacy Supervisor, and Market Operations Manager.
An experienced lecturer, Hudgens taught for 3 years at Belmont University College of Pharmacy. She continues to give guest presentations, ranging from universities to professional conferences. Hudgens has been published in Pharmacy Times and the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. She sits on the Medication Management High Reliability Organization workgroup, the Medication Safety Subcommittee, the Pharmacy Leadership Council, Saint Thomas Therapeutics Committee, in addition to several other health system committees.
“Julie has been instrumental in helping to reduce operational variation amongst our eight hospital pharmacies and through IV room renovations at Saint Thomas Rutherford, Highlands, and River Park Hospitals,” said Gordon Ferguson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. “Julie has been a tremendous asset to the Saint Thomas Rutherford team and is well-qualified to serve as Director of Pharmacy.”
Hudgens holds an MBA from Capella University. She completed a Primary Care Specialty Residency at Atlanta’s Grady Health System and graduated cum laude from Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy.
