Shirley LeMay Obituary
Shirley Ann LeMay, age 87 of Murfreesboro died Saturday, August 13, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Cortland, New York and the daughter of the late George and Angeline Cosko. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband of 68 years, Paul LeMay; a daughter, Cheryl LeMay; and a grandson, Matthew Hyland.
Survivors include daughters, Linda LeMay Stevens of Melbourne, FL, Susan Baldridge of Murfreesboro, and Patricia E. LeMay of Nashville; grandchildren, Breyanna Hyland, Emily Stevens (Beau), Lana Pullum (Caleb), and Elizabeth Baldridge (Daniel); great grandchildren, Bowen, Molly, Kai, Aidan, Lola, Mason, Maddox, Roman, Hunter; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Shirley was an only child and enjoyed time with her parents helping reap the benefits of their garden. Her family owned and ran The Lido restaurant in Cortland. She had many beloved cousins and friends from her hometown. She married her true love and raised a family, was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her daughters. Shirley was also a Magna Cum Laude college graduate, with a bachelor’s degree in special education, retiring after years of service from Thurman Francis Jr High. She was a military wife and devout Catholic. She had the blessed opportunity to weave a tapestry with long-term friends from her travels abroad and several states throughout the eastern United States and at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Our Savior in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Shirley also spent time during the winter months in Cape Canaveral, Florida, where she and Paul traveled each year. They spent time there enjoying the company of many beloved family members and looked forward to Christmas gatherings at their nephew’s restaurant. She also spent beautiful fall seasons traveling home to Upstate, NY and New England. Shirley was a world traveler, and the epitome of an elegant lady.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 2:00 until 5:00 pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am, Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
