Siegel High Students Prepare 100+ Shoeboxes
Siegel High School’s classes, led by Joy Colston, worked for the past two months on wrapping and packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Last year they finished 88 boxes. This year they set a goal of 100. These shoeboxes will be delivered to impoverished children all over the world through Samaritan’s Purse. Each box included a “wow” item like a doll, ball, or stuffed animal. They also included school supplies, toothbrushes, soap, and small fun toys.
Ms. Colston’s students watched videos of children who received shoeboxes in years past explaining what their favorite item was and why. One boy who lived in a Russian orphanage treasured his own bar of fragrant soap. Another girl loved her toothbrush because she would not have to share one with ten other orphans. These stories had an amazing impact on the hearts of Siegel High School students, prompting them to diligently pack boxes for others who are less fortunate.
Colston’s classes actually completed 101 shoeboxes this year!
