Siegel Model UN Takes Away Big Wins

Siegel High School’s Model UN participated in the Volunteer Model United Nations (VolMUN) Conference at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, last weekend. Siegel’s 41 delegates represented a variety of diverse nations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Morocco, Chile, Ireland, and Qatar. For the first time in school history, Siegel earned Best Large Delegation, the highest honor at the conference awarded to the most well-researched and involved team in debate among 16 schools in attendance. Furthermore, 12 delegates received awards for their individual performance in debate, a record-setting number for Siegel Model UN.

Best Delegate (highest individual honor in each committee):

  • Morgan Tedrow (Senior) – United Kingdom – Social and Humanitarian Committee
  • Andrew Bruce (Senior) – Germany – Commission on Sustainable Development
  • Jacob Lockyear (Junior) – United Kingdom – Economic and Financial Committee
  • Eric Vaughan (Junior) – United Kingdom – Committee on Science and Technology for Development

Outstanding Delegate (second highest honor in each committee):

  • Malcolm Bryant (Senior) – Germany – Security Council
  • Caleb Nelson (Senior) – United Kingdom – Disarmament and International Security Committee
  • Elizabeth Baum (Junior – Germany – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Honorable Mention (third highest honor in each committee):

  • Josh Hester (Senior) – South Korea – Social and Humanitarian Committee
  • Sydney Sherrill (Senior) – Ireland – World Health Organization
  • Colin Crawley (Senior) – United Kingdom – Commission on Sustainable Development
  • Tanner Jones (Junior) – South Korea – Economic and Financial Committee
  • Emily Bruce (Freshman) – United Kingdom – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
