Summer Fun at the Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center
Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) and its subsidiary, United Communications, are sponsoring several family-friendly events at the Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center (SOAC) throughout the summer:
- May 20 – Sept. 3 | From Here to There exhibit: MTE is proud to sponsor this hands-on, interactive exhibit currently on display at the SOAC and running through Sept. 3. Children are encouraged to explore the exciting world of movement on land, sea and air through exhibit stations including a hovercraft chair, an interactive canal lock system, pneumatic air tubes, pulleys, levers and hydraulics. The From Here to There exhibit and a 40-minute climb time are included with SOAC admission.
- Friday, June 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. | MTE Family Fun Night: Visit the SOAC to enjoy live music, free summer treats and a hands-on exhibit sponsored by MTE. Tour MTE’s new EnergyHub trailer to learn about energy-saving tips for appliances, interact with smart home devices, talk with an MTE Energy Pro and more. Additional food vendors will be on-site. This event is open to all ages.
- Friday, July 14 | Kona Ice Day by United Communications: SOAC visitors can enjoy free Kona Ice provided by United Communications. Come to the SOAC Lawn to enjoy free shaved ice (2 p.m. to 4 p.m. only) and free fiber-splicing demonstrations sponsored by United Communications (from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). The featured exhibit will be an additional charge of $3.00/person. All ages are welcome.
The SOAC is part of the Smyrna Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 100 Sam Ridley Parkway E. in Smyrna. The SOAC programmers specialize in developing and presenting a variety of environmental education, recreational and outreach programs for all ages.
