Susan Elizabeth Wix Obituary
Susan Elizabeth Wix, age 63, passed away on August 19th, 2023, at her home in Unionville, TN. Today, we celebrate the remarkable life of Susan Wix, a woman who touched the hearts of everyone she knew. As we reflect on her journey, let us remember the love, joy, and compassion she brought into this world.
Susan was born on December 28, 1959, in Franklin, Tennessee to Mary Alice Tomlin and William Crockett. She grew up with her beloved siblings Shirley Burkitt and Nancy Lunn, and though her brother Billy Crockett is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in our memories.
At the tender age of 21, Susan found her soulmate in Ronnie Wix. Their love story spanned an incredible 37 years of marriage. Ronnie often described their relationship as a bond built on mutual respect and understanding. They shared a rare connection that allowed them to navigate life’s challenges together with unwavering support for one another.
Susan and Ronnie were blessed with four beautiful children: Shannon, Joshua, Tony (Jackie), Brittany, and Cassica. These children brought immeasurable joy to their parents’ lives. Susan’s parenting style was a testament to her empathy, supportiveness, and responsiveness. She nurtured each child’s unique dreams and aspirations while instilling in them values that would guide them throughout their lives.
But Susan’s love extended far beyond her own children; it radiated toward her grandchildren as well. Her eight grandchildren – Kaylin Adams, Jackson Wix, Joshua Wix (yes, two Joshuas!), Reese Adams, Kira Wix, Parker Wix, Riley Wix, and Everette Morton – were the light of her life. To them, she was known as “Nana,” a beacon of love who poured her heart into each and every one of them. At Nana’s house everything went; it was a place where laughter echoed through the halls and memories were created that would last a lifetime.
Susan was a woman of many remarkable qualities. Her compassion knew no bounds; she always sought to uplift and support those around her. Her generosity was unmatched, as she consistently gave of herself without hesitation. Susan’s honesty was refreshing, for she believed in the power of truth and integrity. And above all, her perseverance guided her through life’s ups and downs, inspiring all who knew her.
Throughout her career as a Customer Specialist in Telecommunications at Verizon Wireless, Susan touched countless lives with her warmth and dedication. She cherished the connections she made with both colleagues and customers alike, always going above and beyond to ensure their needs were met.
Outside of work, Susan found solace in the companionship of two loyal pets: Ginger and Rip. These beloved dogs were more than just furry friends; they were family members who brought comfort and unconditional love into Susan’s life.
In the final week of Susan’s life, her cousin and dear friend Cyndi Hawkins stood steadfastly by her side. Cyndi drove from Auburn, Alabama to be there for Susan, demonstrating just how much they meant to each other. As cousins who were also close childhood friends, their connection was truly exceptional.
As we bid farewell to Susan today, let us hold on to the memories we shared with her – the laughter, the tears, the moments that shaped our lives alongside hers. May we carry forward her legacy by embodying the same love, compassion, honesty, and perseverance that defined her beautiful soul.
Rest peacefully now, dear Susan Wix. Your impact on this world will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in knowing that your spirit will forever live on through your loving family and friends. Until we meet again…
