Telephone scammers strike again
Telephone scammers used the name of Sheriff’s Major Bill Sharp in an effort to get money recently.
Using the name of Sheriff’s employees, the scammers called citizens and told them they must put money on a green-dot card and give the caller the information to avoid arrests for missing grand jury.
Two citizens called Major Sharp afterwards to ask about the scam.
Major Sharp said the Sheriff’s Office NEVER calls citizens and asks for money to missing grand jury or for arrests.
If you receive a call like this, simply hang up. Do not give any personal information. Do not get a money card and give information to someone you don’t know.
