The City Schools Foundation Awards More Than $56,000 in Grants
The City Schools Foundation has awarded $56,036 in grants to educators across Murfreesboro City Schools, providing teachers with resources, materials and innovative tools that support student learning beyond what is typically funded through taxpayer dollars.
This year, 56 grant proposals were selected for funding. Awards range from $83.95 to $3,500, supporting projects that bring hands-on learning, technology, literacy, STEM, music and other innovative experiences directly into MCS classrooms.
Educators submitted proposals outlining how the requested resources would enhance learning for their students. Each proposal was reviewed and scored anonymously by members of the foundation Grant Committee based on merit.

“Reading and scoring these proposals is one of the most rewarding responsibilities as a foundation board member,” said David Scott, Grant Committee Chair. “Thanks to the dedication and fundraising efforts of our board, we were able to fund over $56,000 in grants this year. It’s inspiring to see how these resources will enrich learning for students.”
Among this year's funded projects are opportunities for students to explore life cycles, conduct hands-on science investigations, engage in STEAM and coding activities, develop literacy skills, explore geography and the natural world, strengthen math skills, participate in music and movement, and create more supportive and accessible learning environments.
The grants will benefit educators and students throughout Murfreesboro City Schools, including projects at individual schools as well as districtwide initiatives.

“The work of the foundation makes a tremendous impact on our schools,” said Dr. Trey Duke, Director of Schools. “The dedication of the individuals serving on the foundation board is unquestionable, and their continued support is invaluable to the students and teachers of Murfreesboro.”
The City Schools Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to support Murfreesboro City Schools, raises funds from the community to provide educational opportunities and resources that directly benefit MCS students and teachers.
