TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center Goes Red for Women’s Heart Health

Heart disease remains the number one killer of women in the U.S.

February is American Heart Month and is dedicated to focusing on heart-healthy habits to help prevent cardiovascular disease. To raise awareness throughout Rutherford County, TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center is glowing red each night during the month of February to support the American Heart Association’s “National Wear Red Day” to help raise awareness of the threat of heart disease in women as part of the Go Red for Women movement.

The most powerful tool in preventing heart disease is knowing your personal risk of heart disease and steps you can take to prevent heart disease,” said Prakash Patel M.D., chief medical officer at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center. “Everyone should take the first step in prevention by talking with their healthcare provider about personal risk. “

To spread awareness that heart disease can impact any age, TriStar StoneCrest colleagues across the hospital wore red attire, and even the tiniest patient was swaddled in red blanks to raise awareness in honor of their new moms.

Community members are encouraged to learn more about heart health this month through the activities listed below or by taking a FREE online heart risk assessment to learn more about their personal risk of heart disease at TriStarHealth.com/MyHeartRisk.
