William Wallace (Bill) Gentry obituary

William Wallace (Bill) Gentry, age 79, passed away on Oct. 31, 2020. He was the son of the late Joseph Wallace Gentry and Elizabeth Chandler Gentry. Mr. Gentry is survived by his three children; Gwen (Jake) Potash, Greg (Janice) Gentry, and Geri (Keith) Lee, as well as their mother and his former spouse, Diane Davis Ragland. He is survived by his grandchildren; Nathan Jones, Kayla Jones, Max Potash, Joseph Potash, Julianne Gentry, Savannah Gentry, Grant Gentry, Keith Gentry, and Caden Salem. He is also survived by his siblings; Gerry Gentry Black, Carl Bruce (Charlotte) Gentry, and Jane Gentry. Mr. Gentry was a life long native of Rutherford County, and a 1959 Smyrna High School Graduate. He served his country dutifully in the United States Air Force, and later became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Smyrna, TN.

Mr. Gentry loved farming and spending time working with his tractors. You could often find him tilling a garden, bush hogging a field, or raking and bailing hay. He also loved to square dance, and was a long time member of the Murfreesboro Club, The Tennessee Walkers. In his later years, he enjoyed working puzzles and spending time with his family.

Services for Mr. Gentry will be conducted by Rob Dunbar, on Saturday, November 7th at noon in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, in Murfreesboro, TN. Please note, that in accordance to the Rutherford County Mask Mandate, social distancing and masks/facial coverings will be required. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials for Mr. Gentry be made to a church or charity of your choice.
