Wine Around the Square Returns Oct. 25 to Benefit Breast Cancer Programs

The Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation will host its 14th annual Wine Around the Square on Saturday, October 25, in Murfreesboro’s historic downtown square. Proceeds will support the Foundation’s Power of Pink Fund, which provides life-saving breast health resources—including mammograms, screenings, diagnostics, patient education, transportation, lodging during treatment, and advanced medical equipment. The fund also supports two Mobile Mammography Coaches serving 26 Middle Tennessee counties, the Cancer Wellness Program, and breast cancer patient resources at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford.

This year’s event will honor Patty Marschel, a longtime Murfreesboro resident and community leader who launched Wine Around the Square nearly 20 years ago after her best friend, Susan Loyd, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Marschel’s vision helped grow the fundraiser into the signature event of the Power of Pink initiative, raising more than $2 million and funding 24,000 mammograms since its inception. In 2024 alone, the program provided 639 rides to and from treatment, and as of August 2025, this year’s fundraiser had already raised $190,000 toward its $316,000 goal.

Guests will enjoy wine and spirit tastings provided by Stones River Total Beverages, along with dinner from The Alley on Main, Clay Pit, and Tennessee Craft Butchers. The evening begins with a VIP party at 4:30 p.m., followed by the main event at 6 p.m.
