7th Annual Special Kids Race this Saturday
The 7th Annual Special Kids Race will be held this Saturday, March 17, at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC). Special Kids is hosting a 15K, 5K and one mile family fun run.
The event welcomes all levels of participants and encourages the whole family to get involved. Race fees are $45 for the 15K, $40 for the 5K and $20 for the one mile family fun run. A “Virtual Runner” option is also available for $25 if a participant would still like to be involved but cannot attend on the actual race day. Registration is currently available online through Friday, March 16, at specialkidsrace.org. Event day registration will be available on March 17 for an additional $5 late fee.
Rachel and Bryson are this year’s impact Special Kids partners for the 7th annual Special Kids Race. Rachel’s smile is contagious. You can’t help but be energized when you’re around her. Rachel is a nursing and therapy patient. Her brother, Bryson, loves big and is a friend to everyone. Bryson is a peer-model in Special Kids’ “EQUIP” program. Rachel and Bryson’s mother shares, “Special Kids is not just a safe place for kids but it’s a safe place for parents. There are times I’ve walked in and teachers will just pray for you. It’s not easy being the parent of a special needs child and a 3-year old as well and we can struggle…I can pour my heart out and they will pour into me and speak God’s word. There’s nowhere else like Special Kids. I am so grateful.” To read their full story, please visit SpecialKidsRace.org/Stories.
Beyond entrance into the event, race participants will receive a soft-style t-shirt, race medal, and additional race swag from presenting sponsor MMC and partners. For the seventh year, all race expenses are covered by sponsors, allowing funds from registration fees to directly benefit children with special needs at Special Kids.
