Murfreesboro Firefighters Deploy to Texas to Assist During Ross Fire

Four firefighters with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department are heading to Palo Pinto County, Texas, to provide support as crews continue responding to the Ross Fire.

The deployment is part of an Emergency Management Assistance Compact, or EMAC, request. Murfreesboro firefighters will provide backfill and relief for personnel tasked with structural fire protection in the affected area.

MFRD personnel joined firefighters and resources from the Franklin Fire Department, Columbia Fire & Rescue, Knoxville Fire Department and Madison County Fire Department before departing for Texas early Monday morning.

The crews could remain deployed for up to two weeks, depending on conditions and the needs of local emergency officials.

EMAC allows states to share personnel and resources during disasters and other major emergencies when additional assistance is needed.
