Become a Cannon Runs Sponsor and Help Child Abuse Victims

Support child abuse victims and honor the local heroes that help them by partnering with the Cannon County Child Advocacy Center’s 2nd Annual Cannon Runs for Children 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 5, 2018.

“Child abuse victims should never have to pay for services to help them heal from the trauma of abuse,” said Cannon County Coordinator Cassell Galligan-Davis. “It takes the support of generous people in our community for us to provide these critically needed services free of charge to children and families.”

The Child Advocacy Center works as a multidisciplinary team with the Warren County Department of Children’s Services, Woodbury Police Department, Cannon County Sheriff’s Department, and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate and prosecute child abuse cases and help children and their families heal from the trauma. The Department of Children’s Services protects children. Law enforcement investigates the crime and arrests offenders. The District Attorney’s Office aggressively prosecutes perpetrators. While the Cannon County Child Advocacy Center helps children and families heal from the trauma of the abuse.

Community support is critical to the Cannon County Child Advocacy Center. All program services are provided at no cost to child abuse victims and their families. Eighty percent of the program budget is funded by federal, state, and United Way grants while the remaining 20 percent has to be raised from the Cannon County community through fundraising events like the Cannon Runs for Children 5K Run/Walk.

Cannon Runs for Children community sponsors include: Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Project Hometown Help, Tri-Star Title Co. LLC, DTC Communications, Woodbury Funeral Home, Shannon and Daisy Gannon, and Bernard and Nancy Coomes.

“The Cannon County Child Advocacy Center is grateful to all the businesses, civic groups, women’s groups, churches, and individuals that are partnering with us to support this event,” concluded Davis.

There is still time to support Cannon Runs for Children. Businesses, civic organizations or other groups who want to help child abuse victims may contact the Cannon County Coordinator Cassell Galligan-Davis at 615-653-9915 or [email protected]. Register to run or walk at www.cannoncac.org.
