Hometown Heroes Support Child Abuse Victims
Our own local hometown heroes are supporting child abuse victims this spring through the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children including Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price and Project One Four Foundation, Troy and Donna Van Lier with Sudsy’s Car Wash, Junior League of Murfreesboro, Russ and Sherry Galloway and the Emergency Physicians of St. Thomas Rutherford, Franklin Synergy Bank, Middle Tennessee Electric Sharing Change, Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club, Ole South Properties, PATCO, St. Thomas Rutherford, and Bill and Lucy Whitesell.
The Child Advocacy Center will celebrate Child Abuse Awareness Month with the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza, downtown on the square. Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m., speakers at 11:45 p.m., and the Walk will begin at 12 noon. The event will conclude with a reception at the Child Advocacy Center, located at 1040 Samsonite Blvd. New this year, there will be shuttles from the Child Advocacy Center to the Civic Plaza at 10:30, 10:45, 11:00, and11:15 a.m.
In 1983, Congress declared April to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Since then, communities across our nation and here in Rutherford and Cannon Counties have taken this opportunity to raise community awareness about child abuse, child sexual abuse, and drug endangered children.
