The Little Mermaid Opens with a Splash!
The Center for the Arts’ production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid opened with a sold-out SPLASH! The show runs from June 8-24. This Broadway-style production is the full length, 2-hour version, guaranteed to leave adults and children both in awe of this larger than “sea life” musical production!
The Little Mermaid officially opened on Friday, June 8th, but some very special guests were invited to watch the final full rehearsal Thursday night. This audience included 18 families from Miracle League of Murfreesboro and 44 guests from Possibility Place.
Angie Keating, Coordinator of Miracle Field of Murfreesboro shared, “We had SUCH a good time!!” She continues, “All of my parents said they had never been able to come, so that was neat!” Miracle League provides opportunities for children with disabilities to play Miracle League baseball, regardless of their abilities.
In addition, the opening weekend included two of six scheduled “Under the Sea Tea with Ariel and Friends” pre-show experiences from 12:30-1:30 pm. Little mermaids and mermen can sing and dance with the cast, enjoy story time with Ariel, have their autograph books signed by the characters, take “shell-fies” with Ariel in front of a beautiful animated ocean backdrop, and receive a light-up tiara or triton that is used to help save Ariel in the show. Even Ursula and her evil sidekicks stop by! Disney costumes are encouraged!
Parents (and children not participating in the tea activities) are welcome to attend and are only required to purchase a regular-priced ticket to the 2 pm show after the event. Tea participants and their families also enjoy advance seating before the doors open to general seating.
The Little Mermaid is sponsored by Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund.
