MFRD Responds to Fire at Chrisman Motel
At approximately 4:00 Thursday afternoon, MFRD responded to the Chrisman Motel at 5630 NW Broad Street.
A truck leaving the parking lot snagged a low hanging power line causing it to fall on the building and create a power surge. The resulting surge led to a fire in two of the units.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fires, and no occupants or firefighters were injured.
In addition to the two units that received moderate fire damage, approximately 4-6 other units were impacted due to a loss of power.
Not all of these rooms were occupied at the time of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the affected families.
