Rutherford County Fire and Rescue to host Fire Prevention Week Open House Event
The Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Department will be hosting a free Open House event during Fire Prevention Week.
The Open House Event will be on Saturday, October 14 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 854 East Jefferson Pike Murfreesboro, TN.
RCFD will provide demonstrations of water rescue equipment, vehicle extrication, and Middle Tennessee Electric safety. The Vanderbilt Life Flight helicopter will be on-site and will fly at 11:00am. CPR Instruction demonstrations will also be available to the public as well as fire truck show-and-tells. Families can look forward to food truck vendors and Bounce Houses.
“We hope that this event provides residents insight into what our fire departments do, and what residents can do at home to protect themselves. Our department is not only composed of full-time fire fighters, but many volunteer firefighters. We encourage anyone interested in becoming a volunteer to also attend this event to learn more about us,” said Fire Rescue Chief Larry Farley.
Fire Prevention Week is a yearly national campaign held by the National Fire Protection Association.
NFPA states, “In a fire, seconds count. Seconds can mean the difference between residents of our community escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy. That’s why this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme: “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” is so important.”
