Shakesbeer Returns to The Discovery Center
The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring has announced the return of “Shakesbeer” on Friday, May 5th from 6 to 9pm. Sponsored by Consolidated Electrical Distributors with additional support from Sunbelt Rentals, guests can enjoy samples of local craft brews, charcuterie from Graze Craze, and theatrical performances by M-Prov. Food will be available to purchase at the event from local vendors such as Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Middle Tennessee Catering, Wise Girls, and Cousins Maine Lobster. The annual fundraiser is for ages 21 and up and will be held at the museum’s outdoor Murfree Spring area with all proceeds going to support the Discovery Center and its programming.
“Shakesbeer is always a great time for our community to come out and experience the thespian arts in a fun setting while enjoying some of the best offerings from our local craft breweries,” said President and CEO of the Discovery Center Tara MacDougall. “Murfree Spring is also an invaluable educational resource for Middle Tennessee, and it’s part of the Discovery Center’s mission to expand our community’s awareness of the biodiversity right in our backyard.”
This year’s event will also feature a “Fan Favorite” award for the brewer who receives the most votes for best beer. Tickets are available for purchase on the museum’s website and are $35 in advance, $40 at the door, and $15 for designated drivers. The museum will be closing at 1 PM the day of the event.
Named “Best Museum” in 2022 by Rutherford Parent Magazine, The Discovery Center has been one of Middle Tennessee’s leading environmental, cultural, and educational museums for over 30 years. Their 32,000-square-foot facility hosts more than 120,000 children and families each year. It is the museum’s mission to engage curious minds to fuel the future through interactive, hands-on exhibits and programs that promote STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education.
Adjacent to the protected Murfree Spring wetlands, a natural habitat for a variety of fish, amphibians, and birds, the Discovery Center is located at 502 SE Broad Street in Murfreesboro, TN 37130. For more information, visit www.explorethedc.org or call (615) 890-2300.
