A “Voice” Against Domestic Violence: Ladies Luncheon to feature local police officer and vocal contestant

Join MOPS of Murfreesboro for their first annual Ladies Luncheon featuring guest speaker Skyler Harris. Harris is an officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department and a former contestant on Season 12 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Harris will share her inspiring story of how she became a police officer after overcoming an abusive relationship in college and her bittersweet journey to “The Voice” stage where she auditioned a mere week after her sister was killed by a boyfriend in a murder-suicide. While she didn’t get a “chair turn” from the judges, her life made a different kind of turn as she realized what a powerful “voice” she can be against domestic violence. Now she uses her testimony to help other women in similar situations.

The luncheon is open to the community and will take place on Saturday, March 9 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 116 N. Academy St., Murfreesboro. Doors open at 11 a.m. for table viewing and a silent auction. A lunch catered by Goodness Gracious at the Mill will be served at noon.

Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. Email [email protected] or call 615-631-2063 to reserve your spot.
