Making a Difference in Children’s Lives

Mother Peggy Loughren and her daughter, Luann Fox, team up to prepare stuffed animals and gift bags for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office’s Kids in Desperate Situations program.

Deputies give children the gift bags to comfort them when they are involved in car crashes or other stressful events.

This is the second year Loughren and Fox prepared the gift bags for KIDS. Loughren makes the bags with colorful designs such as Minnie Mouse and pets.

Loughren was inspired by her late husband, Robert.

“He was a giver,” Loughren said of her husband.

She and her daughter donate every month to a different charity in her husband’s memory.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Herron, who coordinates the KIDS program, thanked Loughren and Fox for their generous donations to help comfort children.
