MTSU anthropology student’s training helps honor nation’s missing service members
MTSU senior Rose Raymer is graduating Dec. 13 with incredible hands-on experience most students don’t see until grad school. The anthropology major was one of just six students selected nationwide for a prestigious internship with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency through the Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program.

Rose spent 10 weeks working on a World War II disinterment, helping analyze remains and training alongside some of the nation’s top forensic anthropologists. Thanks to MTSU’s Forensic Anthropology Search and Recovery Team, strong lab programs, and faculty mentorship, she stepped confidently into one of the most specialized forensic labs in the world.
From recovering remains in France to assisting local law enforcement, Rose has already built an impressive résumé. After graduation, she plans to pursue graduate studies focused on disaster recovery and humanitarian identification work.
Congratulations, Rose. Your dedication and passion make MTSU proud!
