Quantum Computing Is Coming to Murfreesboro: MTSU and MTE Announce Major Partnership
Quantum computing is officially making waves in Murfreesboro.
MTSU President Sidney McPhee and MTE President and CEO Chris Jones have signed a new partnership agreement that will advance quantum research right here in Middle Tennessee. This new agreement expands the work already being done through MTSU’s Q-RISE Center and creates a direct physical connection between MTE and the university’s quantum research infrastructure.
The Q-RISE Center, launched just 15 months ago, has already helped secure around $9 million in federal grant funding. Now, Tennessee is investing even more into the future of quantum technology, with Governor Bill Lee opening up an additional $43 million in funding to support quantum research across the state.
In this video, we break down:
- What quantum computing actually is
- Why it’s such a big deal
- How it could revolutionize medicine, cybersecurity, navigation, and more
- Why Tennessee is becoming a leader in quantum research
- What this could mean for jobs and economic growth in Murfreesboro
Topics covered include:
- Quantum computing
- Quantum sensing
- Cybersecurity and quantum communication
- Medical imaging breakthroughs
- Satellite-free navigation
- Economic development in Middle Tennessee
This is one of the biggest tech and research developments happening locally right now, and it could have a massive impact on the future of Murfreesboro and the entire region.
We’re also working on getting inside the MTSU Q-RISE Center for a closer look, so stay tuned for that upcoming video.
